1964-

Founder, Chairman and principal shareholder of the The American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) AIFS and its family of companies organises cultural exchange programmes throughout the world for more than 40,000 students each year from over 100 countries with annual revenues of over $180 million. AIFS celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2004. It is one of the largest American cultural exchange organisation.

Group companies include

  • The American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) which arranges semester, year long or summer study abroad programmes for 5,000 American students at British, European, Asian, African and South American universities for academic credit
  • Camp America which sends 9,000 British and European students to America each summer to work as Camp Counsellors
  • Au Pair in America which arranges for 5,000 young people to work as au pairs with American families
  • American Council for International Studies (ACIS) which organises educational travel programmes for 20,000 US high school students and teachers
  • Academic Year in America, which arranges for 1,000 foreign high school students to spend a year at a US high school
  • Summer Institute for the Gifted which arranges summer schools in the United States for 2,000 gifted children
  • AIFS Deutschland, a wholly owned German subsidiary
  • AIFS also has its own incorporated offices in Cape Town, South Africa; Sydney and Melbourne, Australia: and in Warsaw, Poland.

1971

In 1971, AIFS founded Richmond, The American International University in London which now is an independent, co-educational, not-for-profit , international liberal arts and professional studies university of over 1,000 students from 100 countries. The University is incorporated as a not-for-profit educational institution in the State of Delaware, USA, and is a recognised 501(c)(3) public educational charity under US law. Richmond is accredited in the United States and its undergraduate degrees are also validated by the Open University Validation Services. Its degrees are also designated by the Department of Education of Her Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom (Recognised Awards) Statutory Order 2006 (SI 3121), November 23, 2006.

1961-1964 Brand Management, Procter & Gamble, USA

Worked in brand management in the advertising department of Procter & Gamble at their headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.
